Attractions

The Lodge has 3 large dams stocked with both Rainbow and Brown trout. Visitors will also have access to the owners’ neighboring Stonehaven Farm waters, including 6 kilometers of the pristine Klip River and 3 more dams. All fishing is with barbless hooks and on a catch and release basis.

Over 200 species have been recorded in the area and specials include Gurneys sugarbird, blue crane, redchested flufftail and a nesting colony of endangered Bald Ibis.

Both the farms offer wonderful mountain bike trails from easy to technical levels. Road cycling is equally challenging with several high altitude climbs up to 2300m ASL.

There are many lovely walks on the 2 properties, both on undulating grassland and in the river valley where one can swim in the many clear and cold mountain pools. Stonehaven Farm is game fenced and many different species of game can be viewed including Zebra, impala and mountain reedbuck. Nocturnal animals include aardvark, bushpig, caracal, serval cat and the elusive brown hyena.
