Location: South Africa » Kwazulu Natal » Drakensberg » Central Drakensberg » Giants Castle » EstcourtThe Bushmans, a pleasure to fly fishThe Bushmans river, located in the central drakensberg region is one of the most famous drakensberg trout fishing rivers. It originates from the small, cold mountain rivers and then flows into Wagendrift dam eventually. The predominant species targeted by flyfishermen is the rainbow trout, with occassional brown trout being recorded. Nearer to Wagendrift dam you can target natal scalies (yellowfish), with ease. As soon as the river meets Wagendrift dam you will find the odd trout where the river meets, and in the dam itself you will find scalies, Largemouth bass, a variety of tilapia and bream species and the everpresent sharptooth catfish(barbel). The river can be fished either from Giants castle or Moor park.
